Our freedoms and security, fought and died for by Canadians and their allies, are under attack. The biggest threats to our freedom are too much government, the eco-lobby, and censors posing as human rights commissions. Our biggest security threat is Islam.

Canadian Sniper Kill Shots in Afghanistan (video rejected by YouTube)

Update Dec 2009:
I was misled by the original author of the email I wrote about in this post, last March 2009. He/she was lying about the subject of the video. My original post from March begins after the asterisk line below.

Sadly, the video I received doesn't show Canadian snipers in Afghanistan. I say sadly because as a Canadian patriot I thought it was great to actually see our heroes in action. Unfortunately, it's just freelance wildlife exterminators using elephant guns on small game so they can watch the guts fly through the air.

If you haven't just skipped to the video yet, I'd ask you to appreciate my original comments from last March (they appear before and after the clip) in appreciation of Canada's military men and women. I feel fortunate to able to use a blog to express my support of Canada's military and all our allies.

Merry Christmas to all.

Original Post follows this line
**************************

I received the video below in an email today. It startled me, amazed me, and made me feel proud to be Canadian. Proud of all of the brave men and women in our military, and proud of the skill of our sniper teams.

Following is the text of the email to which it was attached. Please read it before watching. When it says "Pay close attention to the beginning", it means have your sound and picture adjusted and ready BEFORE you press play!

God bless our soldiers. They defend our freedom with their lives.

email text:

"Read This Before Watching Video!

Not for people with weak stomachs!!!

Very sobering footage. I'm glad the Canadians are on our side."

--------

""Canadian Sniper wiping out Taliban Snipers in Afghanistan: they never saw it coming.

These video shots are not made through the shooter's telescopic sight. They are made looking through the spotter's scope. The spotter lies right next to the sniper and helps the sniper to find and home in on the target.

The sniper is using a 50 calibre rifle. A 50 cal. round is about 7-8
inches long and the casing is about an inch in diameter. The bullet itself is one-half inch in diameter and roughly one and one-half inches long.

Pay close attention to the beginning of the video. A Taliban sniper is laying on top of the peak in front of you... when you hear the shot fired....watch what happens. The sniper is also about a half mile away or more.

A Canadian sniper in Afghanistan has been confirmed as hitting an enemy soldier at a range of 2,310 meters (7565 ft/1.43 miles), the longest recorded and confirmed sniper shot in history. The previous record of 2,250 meters (7369 ft/1.4 miles) was set by US Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock in Vietnam in 1967. The Canadian sniper was at an altitude of 8,500 feet and the target, across a valley, was at 9,000 feet.
Canadian sniper units often operated in support of US infantry units, which were grateful for their help. The record lasted only one day, until a second Canadian sniper hit an enemy soldier at 2,400 meters (7860 feet/1.48 miles).

The Canadian snipers fire special 50-calibre McMillan tactical rifles, which are bolt-action weapons with five-round magazines. The Canadian snipers were the only Canadian troops operating without helmets or flak jackets as they had too much other equipment to carry. Each three-man team has one sniper rifle, three standard rifles, Canadian (C7s), one of them with a 203mm grenade launcher.""

After being rejected by YouTube, I was able to find a home for the video right here at Blogger.

If the video above doesn't play, you can
download it here or Watch it at Veridoo.

Here is
an article about five Canadian snipers from the PPCLI working with American forces in Afghanistan in 2002. They were so effective they were nominated and awarded Bronze Stars by the US Army. Sadly, (the day before the award ceremony!), some small minded Canadian military official halted the Americans' honourable gesture. This stunt did a fine job of embarrassing ALL Canadians.

The Canadian brass was too petty and envious to deal with the reality of having another country show them and the world how good Canadian soldiers really are.

UPDATE Feb 19, 2010:

This post was inspired by the story of Canadian snipers performing heroic acts in the defense of freedom. Here's an interview with Rob Furlong, the Canadian sniper who set a world record with a kill shot of 2,430 m while serving with  the Marines in Afghanistan (Operation Anaconda 2002).

...uh... those were mountain goats. seen this vid before.

Are you suggesting that the military was allowing sniper teams to just go out and plink goats for fun?

Unknown said...

good fucking shot, doesn't matter what he was shooting, that kind of shot takes skill

EXCELLENT SHOTS MY MAN!!! GOD BLESS!!

Anonymous said...

and by the way who do think mountain goats are anyway? wonder why they can't find their bodies? think about it the next time you see them grilling a so called goat!!!

I've resisted replying to the first poster because of a lack of knowledge in this area. Recently I looked into mountain goat hunting and found a link to a company in British Columbia that offers mountain goat hunting excursions. The link below shows hunters showing off their trophies after successful hunts. I could not see any bloody carcasses, which is what is shown in the video flying through the air.

I guess anon could be describing unknown elite sharpshooters using very expensive military rifles simply to obliterate wildlife, without eating, mounting, or using it. If so, exterminators would be a better way to describe them then, as opposed to hunters.

Maybe anonymous could share the link proving that this is just some good old boys blasting goats from miles away.

Look at the location in that first shot. Do you really think any sniper would be laying out on top of a rock in the open? In teh rest of the shots, how would any other sniper get to those locations and have any kind of a shot?
Finally, the time between the shot being fired and the impact is way to short for being 1+ miles away.

Those are not military kill shots....

Congratulations, elsa! You're the first rude commenter I've had. Is "retards" typical of the way you describe people when you can't think of a more intelligent way to express yourself? And, since this is my web home, is your insult not unlike walking into a stranger's house and crapping on the floor?

As a strong believer in free speech and freedom in general, I think it's more important to have elsa's vulgar meanderings remain here as a tribute to free speech, and an example of how hate can replace logic. However, I still have a couple of thoughts to share:

as elsa said...

"Whoever thinks that those are canadian snipers are retards! Canada has plenty of good snipers but A) these guys aren't using .50 cal,"

And I suppose this guy is just holding a gopher rifle:

Redneck Special Forces

here's elsa again:

"C) I'm sick of everyone and there mother purporting crappy propaganda with this footage." /quote

Elsa, what made you think ANYone cares what you think or feel in the first place? Do you think you're someone special?

If you have a beef, try to use proper grammar to explain it, unlike this mess:

"purporting crappy propaganda"

Look up purporting in a dictionary, if you have one. While you're at it, discover what propaganda means too.

I don't care what you or anyone says here as long as you leave the insults and gibberish out of it.

Cheers

i am a former military service member that completed two tours on the dirt in Iraq, and I do get mad when others provide inaccurate information on a whim regarding the craft of soldiering. There's another jackoff on youtube below doing the same thing as you, and quite frankly that's the only thing that's sad but true. If you would have checked the accurate link I left you previously you would see that "Varmint Safari" would be the correct portrayal with the footage provided. Calibers such as a 308 mag, 30-06, and 7.62 would have the equivalent firepower presented in this video. You are obviously not in the military and have probably even held a gun in your life for that matter, there wouldn't be anything left it had been a .50 cal. If you have ever shot one you would know that as well. I wasn't attacking you at first just the incorrect information provided.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw0u22o_w8k

by the way, maybe you should brush up on your english monsieur kanuck. In America, the common phrase everyone and their mother would be what a person calls a saying, it's supposed to be proper. "My friend gave me this video in an email, these are canadian snipers," it's misleading and you're basically an idiot x's2 for trying to correct me when it is you that has erred.

purport
verb |pərˈpôrt| [with infinitive ]
appear or claim to be or do something, esp. falsely; profess : she is not the person she purports to be.

as in this video is not what you claim

crappy
as in your an idiot from canada putting crappy stuff on the internet

propaganda |ˌpräpəˈgandə|
noun
1 chiefly derogatory information, esp. of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view : he was charged with distributing enemy propaganda.

i.e. canadian snipers shooting terrorists, unless you consider prairie dogs, jack rabbits, and mountain goats to be terrorists, ha.

err |ər; er|
verb [ intrans. ] formal
be mistaken or incorrect; make a mistake : the judge had erred in ruling that the evidence was inadmissible.
• [often as adj. ] ( erring) sin; do wrong : the erring brother who had wrecked his life.

i put that one in for you so you don't have to waste your time trying to correct me for your mistake, again.

Insults and firm corrections are also considered freedom of speech last time i checked unless they are slanderous. you are a jackoff, you are an idiot, and you are from canada, so all in all good to go!

WOW!!!
1. even if that was a furry critter ,or if that was a hooded Islam o fascias terrorist, that was a stud shot.
2. I believe Cousinarlo got his argument shoved down his throat by Elsa.
by the way when whats his face said that the guy on the rock didn't have a shot from the mountain side. you should probably think that over again. He had the high ground and the best spot visually for probably five or so miles.

Unknown said...

I concur Casey, having a high ground vantage point from a rock hold that high is a dream come true but to shoot up in mountain wind at 8clicks plus would not exactly be the best approach. So to nail varmint from that far away is pretty animal.

Also I was never initially trying to be rude to cousinarlo he just posted material on a whim that was not what ihe claimed it to be even if received it via third party. That's a bit frustrating being an ex service member. Everyone has this image of shooting iraqis and taliban as a light situation but no matter how you cut it killing is killing and no matter how the situation pans out its an experience that will never leave a man as long as he lives. best regards to everyone.

elsa, you are a hypocrite, liar, and troll. Thankfully there aren't many as crude as you. Now run along and play in traffic.

Wow. I am a troll huh? good comeback, you also got me really good with setting up a blog about me for calling you out for being a total idiot. Seriously man find a hobby you obviously have too much time on your hands. Also your weapons experience sounds like a $150.00 idiot special at your local gun range to drop 50 rounds with 5 diferent guns. Anyway as usual Arlo, you sir sound like a grade A faggot. You were wrong for posting a video that portrays rednecks from the rocky mountains shooting varmint as super duper Canadian special military snipers. Then to top it off you get sand in your vagina when someone who has fought in the middle east calls you out for calling it what the video isn't. Why dont you stop sucking at life and stick to the facts douche!

cousinarlo said...

Here is elsa's deleted post from above at 7:33, sent 14 minutes before the pithy comments above were made:

elsa said...

"Man you have have a lot of time on your hands Arlo, it's pretty funny that it took you a whole month to come up with a comeback, and, the best you can do is call me a troll. You sir are a grade A faggot. How am i a lier ? how am i a hypocrite, how am i a troll? Dumbest shit I have ever heard it doesn't even make sense. The truth is that youre a joke, you post bs on the internet and get sand in your vagina and when someone calls you out for being a moron. Also all of your previous weapons of experience listed sound like a gun range special for idiots that pay 150.00 to drop 50 rounds with five different weapons. Man you are a joke, good luck with being a faggot! In this arena it sounds like you have it wired!"

Hmmmm.

I don't know which version makes less sense, but it's always entertaining to see a true wordsmith hone his craft. Quite disappointing, though, coming from a self-proclaimed soldier to a foreign civilian who is obviously proud of their military men and women.

I also happen to be proud of the men and women of the USA who have been fighting and dying for freedom. But you, elsa, not so much.

I'll explain this again for you: if you had not waded in here calling people names (retards was #1) in your first post this would have turned out differently.

Troll.
