"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Troll
Anyone taking the time to look at the posts and links here at CBF (and the Why This Blog at the bottom) would realize that I have nothing but the greatest respect for our military. Seven months ago I passed along an email discussing our elite snipers and their mission in Afghanistan. It came with a video that the sender said showed MY Canadian soldiers killing terrorists for and with American soldiers.
Months after I posted it, a foul-mouthed troll named elsa stumbled in and out of here and blew a gasket about the video (in stark contrast to thousands of other viewers). Here's a sampling of his bile:
"Whoever thinks that those are canadian snipers are retards!" elsa, Oct 4/09 (first post)
"I wasn't attacking you at first just the incorrect information provided." elsa, Oct 16/09
"I was never initially trying to be rude..." - elsa, Oct 20/09
No "Hi, how's it going!?" or "hey, I noticed a mistake". Sweet f-all as far as courtesy.
So the mild mannered genius' first words (calling me and thousands of others "retards") weren't actually rude and inflammatory? What bullshit. It was nothing BUT inflammatory, with a side order of lying (there's lots more elsa poo being flung if you read the rest of his "comments").
Upon reflection, maybe the Shakespeare Whisperer doesn't actually TRY to be rude and obnoxious. Maybe it just comes naturally to him.
Canadian Sniper Kill Shots in Afghanistan.
PS: The video link elsa the American objected to, in my post praising Canadian snipers, in fact portrays a bunch of HIS fellow Americans, pretending to be snipers! (This they do by bravely blasting the smithereens out of small animals as though they were shooting at tin cans, leaving the carcasses to the vultures. Exterminators they may be, but not snipers, and certainly not real hunters.
PPS: 9MM Uzi, .44 Magnum, Shotguns, and assorted smaller arms. Fired 'em all, elsa.
PPPS: Looking up words in a dictionary doesn't qualify someone to use them together!
